Xlendi & Gozo

Xlendi is a small picturesque village with stunning cliffs and a serene bay.

You’ll also find

  • a small sandy beach
  • Gozo Dive Centre (formerly St Andrew’s)
  • a supermarket
  • two large swimming areas with lifeguards
  • a diving platform and many sets of steps into the sea
  • watersports: hire jet-ski/paddle board/kayak & pedaloes
  • skippered boat trips
  • Karolina’s Cave, a hidden sea cave used by nuns to access the sea in privacy
  • Xlendi Tower, a small seventeenth century watchtower built by the Knights of St John
  • Roman salt pans, traditionally used to harvest sea salt
  • The best ice-cream in Malta!
  • Gozo coastal walks

Xlendi celebrates summer with a Sunset Festival in mid-August each year, and hosts a popular Gostra (Greasy Pole) competition, an afternoon event in early September. Across Gozo, visitors are welcomed to traditional village festas with spectacular fire work displays, processions and street parties every weekend throughout the summer, and you’ll find free live music locally almost every night.

From Xlendi, you can also take a tour of the island on a hop-on hop-off tourist bus which includes stops in Victoria – Gozo’s main town – for the citadel, at the Ġgantija Temples, the Inland Sea and the Ta Pinu Basilica, the National Shrine of Malta.

Alternatively, catch the regular bus from Xlendi to Victoria, a ten-minute trip (bus numbers 306 & 330). The 306 runs from 5am-11pm approx. In the summer, there is also a direct bus to Gozo’s harbour and ferry port, Mġarr (bus number TD30).

Taxis are popular across Malta and Gozo, and easy to book via Bolt, Uber and eCabs apps: because distances are short, journeys across the island are not expensive.
